Venofer
Venofer
Venofer is indicated to treat iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in adult and pediatric patients (2 years and older) with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Venofer is an intravenous (IV) form of iron, which is a key ingredient for making new red blood cells. Iron is also necessary for your bone marrow to build healthy new red blood cells and provide oxygen to your organs and tissues through hemoglobin. If you are iron deficient, raising your iron levels can help increase your hemoglobin levels.
Administration Information
Venofer is given intravenously. Timing of the infusion can range depending on dosage and physician orders. Depending on your doctor’s instructions and other treatments you receive, you may need several treatments with Venofer.
Potential Side Effects
In adult patients, the most common side effects include diarrhea, upset stomach, vomiting, headache, dizziness, hypotension, pruritus (itching), pain in extremity, arthralgia (joint pain), back pain, muscle cramp, injection site reactions, chest pain and peripheral edema (swelling).
For a full list of potential side effects, please see the Important Safety Information and Medication Guide on the Venofer website.
