Krystexxa is a PEGylated uric acid-specific enzyme indicated for the treatment of chronic gout in adult patients refractory to conventional therapy.
Krystexxa has a different way of lowering uric acid levels, which is the key to stopping gout flares. In about 6 months, it can safely and effectively remove years of uric acid crystal buildup from your joints. Krystexxa is also a safe option for uncontrolled gout even if you have kidney disease.
Krystexxa is administered by intravenous infusion every two weeks. Infusions take approximately 2 hours.
Your doctor may check your baseline uric acid level. You’ll get rechecked a day or two before each IV treatment to ensure Krystexxa is working as planned.
You should stop oral urate-lowering therapy one week before your first treatment.
The most common side effects of Krystexxa include gout flares, allergic reactions, bruising, sore throat, constipation, chest pain, and vomiting.
For a full list of potential side effects, please see the Important Safety Information and Medication Guide on the Krystexxa website.
