IV Therapy Infusions
IV Therapy Infusions
IV therapy infusions involves inserting an IV line into a vein in your arm to administer fluids. IV hydration treats dehydration.
Dehydration can be caused by decreased oral intake, diarrhea/vomiting, sweating, fever, or urinating too much (which can happen because of certain medications and illnesses).
Certain people are at risk for dehydration, such as older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people on certain medications (such as diuretics), and people that exercise or work outdoors during hot weather.
Signs and symptoms of dehydration include increased thirst, dark or amber-colored urine, headache, dizziness, rapid breathing, dry lips, and dry tongue. Severe dehydration can cause rapid heart rate, confusion, lethargy, weakness, decreased urine output, and poor skin elasticity (tenting).
